Charity ride in June 2008

I am planning on doing the "Jim Calhoun Cancer Challenge" charity ride on June 8, 2008. Last year Ken Goebel and I did it, and it was loads of fun. If you are interested, let me know.

Dear Friend and Fellow Rider,
On Sunday, June 8, 2008, I hope you will again ride with me at the Jim Calhoun Cancer Challenge Ride. As you know, the dollars raised by this ride benefit the Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center at the UConn Health Center and "Coaches vs. Cancer". In 2007 - with very little time to organize the event - you and I raised $235,000 for the fight against this disease. A terrific achievement.

My goal this year is to double the number of riders last year. I hope you will help me reach this goal.

The ride website is live and ready for your registration and those of your family, friends and neighbors (www.calhounride.kintera.org). In addition to a gift bag of goodies for each rider, the shoe company Crocs will be providing a free pair of their great shoes for all participants and Polar Monitors will be making two of their best cycling monitors available at half-price to those that are interested (see website or call the ride office for details). We will also have a terrific celebration/thank you party at the end of the day for all riders.

The ride will once again start and finish the day at the Performing Arts Center in Simsbury, Connecticut. This year we plan to flatten the course a bit so the ride is challenging but not exhausting.

I really need your help to take this event to the next level. I hope you are willing!
